Mapperley Park is a suburb of Nottingham in the English East Midlands. It lies to the North of the city centre, bounded by the triangle formed by Mansfield Road, Woodborough Road and Private Road. Mapperley Park is a conservation area with many distinguished victorian houses and plenty of trees. It is close to the Forest Recreation Ground and within walking distance of the city centre. After many months of delay, this website is now under proper construction. Please feel free to register for an account and participate in the discussion forums while I get everything else working. Calling Brener family

I have a request from The Netherlands for details of the Brener family of Mapperley Park, whose relative, Henry Brener of the Royal Air Force is buried in the British War Cemetery in Bergen op Zoom, , having been killed in WWII. From the photo that they sent me, it looks like a Jewish headstone. Please send any information to webmaster@MapperleyPark.com

Mapperley Brickworks

I have been researching my family "The Bennett's" for the past 4 years. My grt, grt grandfather was Charles Bennett (1832-1909) He was the manager of the Patent Brick company in Mapperley and lived on Woodborough Road, I am interested in anything to do with the old brickworks and the Bennett family, he had 3 wives and 9 children, I guess there must be still quite a few Bennett's living in the area! I know there are bricks with the name Bennett on them.

History

I've added a brief history of the estate to the site. Click on "History" in the left hand menu to read it. I've borrowed it (with permission) from the website of Michael Edwwards, councillor for Mapperley Ward, for which I thank him. I would like to improve this section so if anyone has any good local knowledge, please get in touch.

I've started adding a few links to the "Web Links" section. If you have anything you would like to see included, or have a website of your own, please let me know and I will include it in the database.

I was thinking of creating an aerial view of Mapperley Park similar to The Park Estate from the Air. But I wasn't too sure what the "official" boundaries of the estate are. I would guess at the area bounded by Mansfield Road, Woodborough Road, Private Road and Mapperley Road. But does it include the triangle below Mapperley Road? Let me know if you have an answer.

I now live in The Park but am a former resident of Mapperley Park so I know the area well.
